Major League Baseball announces that the 2020 regular season will open on July 23 or July 24.
Players will began report to training camp by July 1, MLB says in a news release and the season 60-game season.
The Major League Baseball Players Association has agreed to report to training camps by July 1 and play a 60-game season, sources tell ESPN, but deal is not finalized yet.
One last health-and-safety hurdle to get over and Major League Baseball will be back a week from tomorrow.
“MLB is working with a variety of public health experts, infectious disease specialists and technology providers on a comprehensive approach that aims to facilitate a safe return,” the release says. “Most teams will conduct training camps in their home cities.”
Games on the schedule will be played within teams’ divisions to cut down on travel.
