The State of the Union – Fallacy ‘vs’ Reality

President Joe Biden gave his third State of the Union (SOTU) address on Thursday, March 7th and made bold claims and big brags about his accomplishments and future plans. The animated, angry campaign speech fostered division rather than unification, while spinning political agendas instead of addressing the concerns of Americans.

According to the Center for Immigration Studies a recent Gallup poll revealed the southern border crisis is the leading concern for Americans. Pew Research recently reported that 80% of Americans think the government is doing a bad job of handling the situation.

From the campaign trail in 2019/2020 Joe Biden claimed he was focused on the “kitchen table” topics of middle-class Americans. During the SOTU he proved that was a fallacy.

During the speech, Biden claimed he helped negotiate “the toughest and fairest border security reforms in decades.” It is true he negotiated a document centered on border security, but from day one of his presidency, Biden signed 94 executive orders that reversed policies that had given him the most secure border in decades.

Texas GOP Senator Ted Cruz recently blasted Biden’s illegal immigrant releases. Cruz rehearsed a half dozen names of innocent Americans who either lost their lives or were brutally victimized by illegal immigrants who have surged across the border since Joe Biden took office, not to mention the 340 individuals on the terror watch list who have entered the country.

Secondly, Biden claimed the U.S. economy was the envy of the world, as “wages rise and inflation declines.” However, the reality is that 73% of Americans say the economy is poor and getting worse. An NBC poll revealed 71% of those surveyed thought the country was headed the was headed in the wrong direction.

Overall, wages are down 2.1%, prices are up almost 18%, U.S. households are spending $1,019 more per month on average household items and 50% of Americans have less than $500 in savings.

Thirdly, Biden claimed America’s energy sector was thriving because of his policies of boosting exports, American jobs and domestic investments in clean energy. However, he failed to mention his systematic dismantling of U.S. energy independence his first day in office by cancelling the Keystone Pipeline killing between 16,000 and 59,000 jobs at a $3.6 to $9.6 billion economic impact.

He recently halted liquified natural gas exports – a clean, affordable energy source – which are expected to double in global demand by 2040. He also allowed billions in tax breaks and incentives for electric vehicle infrastructure to flow to China.

Each of these actions have hurt Americans and helped our adversaries.  This is the current State of the Union.
