A viral video that caught a man walking down the street and pushing a 92-year-old woman to the ground in New York City is in custody.

“I thought it was a brick or something like that,” she says. “Hit me on the right scalp, on the right side of my head, and of course I fell down on the street. There were a couple of young women there. They helped me up. They said, ‘I’m going to call an ambulance.'”

The viral video shows the suspect walking down Third Avenue between 15th and 16th streets in Gramercy Park around 3:30 p.m. on June 12 when he abruptly hits the woman on the head.

Rashid Brimmage, 31, is a career criminal with over 100 arrests, including sexual assault, with a lengthy history of punching people. He reportedly punched a 29-year-old man at a pizza shop in East Harlem on March 9, ABC 7 reports. He only received a desk appearance ticket. Purportedly, he also hit a 39-year-old female at a Dunkin’ Donuts in the Bronx and then struck a 39-year-old man at the same shop.

The woman spoke out about the incident and says she’s “terrified” to walk around town. “I’m frightened to tears,” she says. “I’m not going to walk there on my own, and it’s very upsetting. It’s very upsetting.”

The assault jarred many people on social media and worldwide.
