Boy, 7, Starts ‘Finn’s Blessing Bags’ to Help Southern Arizona’s Homeless

by christiannewsjournal

Finn is just your average 7-year-old boy. He loves sports, particularly hockey. He enjoys playing video games, fishing, and going on hikes with his family on the weekends.

He also understands there’s a calling of God on his life. At the age of three, Finn learned the Prayer of Jabez and led his church in the prayer before every service. Finn would be the first person to lay his hands on anyone praying at the church’s altar. When something is wrong with anyone in the family, Finn is the first one to say, “Let me pray for you,” and he does. His faith is unwavering.

Born in Michigan and living in a small town, like many, Finn wasn’t exposed to homelessness. When the family moved to Tucson, Ariz., he quickly noticed homelessness existed. One day his mom drove past a big park and a crowd of people caught his eye.

At least 50-75 homeless people were resting on the ground in the park with their bags and shopping carts nearby. Finn was devastated. He stated, “‘Mom, that isn’t right. That’s not fair. Is there anything we can do to help them?'”

From that day on, Finn has been planning on ways to help the homeless in the community. Coincidentally, his church (The Springs Church) and school were putting together “Blessing Bags” simultaneously. Finn was thrilled to be able to contribute and participate in both. He proudly showed his bag and asked if he could go downtown Tucson to serve others.

That’s also when he told his mom, Saadi Gardea Gregg, “‘Mom, I have to make more of these. This bag is only going to help one person, and I need to help all of them!'”

GoFundMe page was set up to raise money, and $90 was raised in the first hour. As of this report, $200 was raised of the $1,500 needed.

Finn has so much love in his heart for everyone around him. He’s excited to help other people and to spread the love of Jesus, because as Finn says, “It’s important because it’s nice to help other people because I love helping people, even the homeless people because it’s important to God.”

Seventeen out of every 10,000 people in the United States were experiencing homelessness during HUD’s Annual Point-in-Time Count in 2019.

Please share Finn’s mission with your friends and family and let’s help spread the love of Jesus to those who need it most.
