WSB-TV 2 in Atlanta reports that Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young partnered with RIP Medical Debt to assist families in paying down their medical debt. Young provided $10,000 through the Trae Young Foundation to help bring relief to those under the weight of past-due medical bills.
“The city of Atlanta has welcomed me with open arms,” says Young. “Giving back to this community is extremely important to me. I hope these families can find a bit of relief knowing that their bills have been taken care of as we enter the New Year.”
The charity, with the help of the NBA star, will erase $1,059,186.39 of medical debt for many people in the area. RIP Medical is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was started by two former debt collectors, Craig Antico and Jerry Ashton. RIP Medical Debt “empowers donors to forgive billions in oppressive medical debt. We are dedicated to removing the burden of medical debt for individuals and families and veterans across America,” the website reads.
Young, a Christian, makes God a top priority. So, it’s no surprise he’s blessing others who are struggling. He recently posted on Instagram about the power of faith and trusting God.

Faith continues to be a top priority in the Young family as Sports Spectrum reports that missing a church service is never an option.
“Every weekend for Young follows the same routine: He joins his family for Sunday service at Victory Family Church in Norman, followed by lunch. The weekly routine is a part of his mother Candice Young’s plan to keep her family grounded in their faith. And no matter where Young goes in the upcoming NBA Draft — if he leaves after this season — missing church isn’t an option.”
Young, 21, recorded a career-high 49 points on Nov. 29 in an overtime loss against the Indiana Pacers. Currently, he’s fourth in the league with 28.9 points.
