This Is a ‘Fight for the Soul of America,’ Says Author Stephen Strang

The first presidential debate of the 2020 election season takes place tomorrow night, on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Case Western University and the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. It will be watched by millions—and a great deal is on the line.

The initial face-off between President Donald J. Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden gives the country the chance to judge the candidates not just on their remarks about the topics at hand—including the coronavirus—but on their commitment to the American people at a most challenging time in our history. The debate comes as Trump has been leading the nation decisively through the COVID-19 crisis—and just after he’s chosen a new conservative nominee for the Supreme Court, something he was elected to do four years ago.

Stephen E. Strang, founder of Charisma Media and author of the compelling new book “God, Trump, and COVID-19,” points to the 2020 election as one of the most significant of our lifetimes—and says the stakes are enormous, especially for those of faith. Strang says that four years ago, “God raised up Donald Trump to lead America at a pivotal time. Evangelicals who recognized this backed him more than any other presidential candidate in history.”

Importantly, Strang adds, “Heading into Election Day 2020, the stakes are even higher, especially with the uncertainty and upheaval caused by COVID-19. This is a fight for the soul of America. Christians need this continuation to fully realize all that’s at stake.”

Strang also notes, “With the shutdown caused by the coronavirus, serious anti-Christian trends surfaced, such as some states closing ‘non-essential’ churches but allowing liquor stores to provide curbside service. Or ceasing all elective surgeries except abortion, which is the taking of a life while the purpose in shutting down the economy was to save lives from this dreaded virus.”

Strang—who has interviewed four U.S. presidents, including our 45th—asserts that “Donald Trump has probably been one of the staunchest defenders of religious liberties and freedoms we have seen. He is a champion for our belief in God and for returning us to the foundation of our freedoms in this country.”

The United States—under the leadership of this president—has been steadily climbing out of the clutches of the coronavirus pandemic. Very early on, Trump closed the U.S. border and issued travel bans to protect our country. He approved numerous aid packages, created a White House task force, and marshalled untold federal resources toward defeating this virus. Throughout it all, the president has kept the nation very well informed.

“Donald Trump is a leader, and at this point in American history we need a real leader who can get private enterprise and government—even the Democrats—to work together to take us through this crisis and find a vaccine for the deadly coronavirus,” Strang says in “God, Trump, and COVID-19.”

Strang has been writing with authority about President Donald Trump for years. “God, Trump, and COVID-19”is a dynamic follow-up to Strang’s earlier book, “God, Trump and the 2020 Election.” The new book shares insider information about China and the virus—and conveys the tremendous stakes of the 2020 presidential election. It also addresses a key question for Christians: “Where is God in all this?”

“God, Trump, and COVID-19” is published by FrontLine, an imprint of Charisma House, which publishes books that challenge, encourage, teach, and equip Christians. The book is available in hardcover, paperback and e-book formats at www.stevestrangbooks.com.

Stephen E. Strang is an award-winning journalist who founded Charisma magazine, the only national evangelical magazine to endorse President Donald Trump. He is also the bestselling author of “God and Donald Trump.”
