The most popular verse in 2019 on the free Bible app YouVersion was Philippians 4:6. The popular Scripture talks about trusting God and committing our difficulties into His care, something that gauges where we all are emotionally.
“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.”
The app was founded by Bobby Gruenewald and Life.Church over a decade ago. It’s been installed on over 400 million unique devices worldwide, including India, China, Russia, Romania, Mexico, Brazil and Puru. “We’re encouraged to see so many people turning to the Bible in response to their worries, remembering what God has done in their lives, and choosing to trust in His faithfulness,” YouVersion Gruenewald says in a statement.
The app offers a free Bible encounter for smartphones, tablets and online at Bible.com. They also contribute 2,018 Bible versions in 1,351 languages free of charge with no advertisements. They have a Bible app for kids for Android, Apple and Kindle devices.
Isaiah 41:10 was the most sought after verse in 2018, again about trusting God and finding hope.
“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
“This generation is on pace to become the most Bible-engaged generation ever, and we believe the Church should keep investing in new technologies to help adults and children connect with the Bible,” says Gruenewald in 2018.
