BOSTON, Mass — Touted as the first free Christian-based crowdfunding site, GiveSendGo.com is now live on the Internet and is inviting Christians to support one another and to make a difference in the world.

“As Christians, we realize that no amount of money will give the world what it really needs, which is hope,” said co-founder Jacob Wells in a press release. “You can raise all the money in the world and still not make an eternal difference in someone’s life. We want to develop a site that Christians can use to come together, support other believers in their endeavors, and bring hope to the world. We believe that when we are living the life God wants us to, we will be able to share His hope with others.”

GiveSendGo does appear to be different from other common crowdfunding platforms.

While most crowdfunding sites take from five percent to ten percent of the money raised, GiveSendGo does not charge a fee to use the platform so that all the funds can go to the designated cause. The website is underwritten by donations it raises for itself. However, there are customary credit card transaction and processing fees that range from 2.9 percent to 3.5 percent that are deducted before the funds are transferred directly to the account of the funded cause.

In addition, GiveSendGo contributes 10% of its own donation receipts back to active campaigns on the site. As they put it, “We are the only crowdfunding site that believes so much in what you are doing, that we put our money where our mouth is.”

On GiveSendGo, Christians can choose to raise funds for short- or long-term campaigns. The platform can even accommodate automated recurring donations.

Beyond funding for mission trips, GiveSendGo can also be used to raise funds for personal needs such as medical expenses, business ventures, churches, nonprofits, ministries, or any “God Adventure” a person may be undertaking.

“It is our desire for you to understand that we believe God wants GiveSendGo to be a place for Christians” they said in a press release. “A place to fund hope. A place to pray and connect with other believers worldwide, and most importantly, a place for Givers, Senders and Goers to work together to be the light of the world.”
