Tudor Dixon, a conservative media personality, is tossing her hat into the 2022 race for Michigan governor.

Dixon is the host of “America’s Voice Live,” a daily program on the outlet Real America’s Voice. She formerly worked in sales for the steel industry and is a mother of four children, The Detroit News reported.

She announced a GOP primary campaign and will seek to push out Michigan’s controversial current governor, Gretchen Whitmer, next fall, Fox News and other outlets are reporting.

Among other things, Dixon has called out Whitmer for her handling of the coronavirus pandemic in Michigan.

“I am honored by the tremendous encouragement I’ve received to run and look forward to sharing our vision of an ambitious, bright future for our state with Michiganders,” Dixon said in an announcement about her primary campaign, which was first obtained by Fox News.

“It is time to reopen, rebuild, and restore Michigan,” Dixon also said. “But to do that, we have to turn the page on Governor Whitmer’s record of failed leadership.”

Dixon recently met with former President Donald J. Trump, according to a note and photo she posted on social media.

Gov. Whitmer has been criticized for the harsh restrictions she put in place for state residents during the coronavirus pandemic—restrictions that she herself then allegedly flouted.

In March, she flew to Florida even though she told fellow residents they should not travel out of state.

“Whitmer is facing renewed scrutiny after reports that she used a private plane shared by high-powered, politically connected Detroit-area business families to visit her elderly father in Florida in March,” WoodTV.com reported.

Whitmer is scheduled to hold a press conference on Thursday morning, the Detroit Free Press reported.

She is expected to announce that the state is easing COVID rules—which could take effect as soon as this week.
