Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller Jr., who called out senior leaders, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Gen. Frank McKenzie over the Afghanistan debacle, was sent to the brig at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina for violating orders to not post on social media.
“Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller Jr. is currently in pre-trial confinement in the Regional Brig for Marine Corps Installations East aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune pending an Article 32 preliminary hearing,” Capt. Sam Stephenson, a spokesperson for the Marine Corps Training and Education Command said.
Scheller was arrested for a post on Facebook and shared on LinkedIn earlier this week:
“For my LinkedIn family, I made a post yesterday that was too long for LI. On my longer Facebook post I highlighted some hypocrisy within our current military and political leadership. Within that post, I spoke out against President Trump.

Was he the right person to expose the corruption at that time… maybe. Is he honest, accountable, and full of integrity… no. Would I want to work for a leader like that… no. I want a leader that will bring US together. Someone who has the courage to defend our country when called. My sons deserve that type of leader running the country in the future. That type of person is the only leader who I want in my corner. I respect all opinions. I’m not asking you to agree with me, but to at least consider my perspective. Much love.”
Three congressmen sent a letter to the Secretary of the Navy on finding more information and in response to public concern over the matter. North Carolina Representatives Greg Murphy, M.D., Richard Hudson, and Ohio’s Brad Wenstrup sent the letter to Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro for answers.
Scheller Sr. recently spoke about his son to Fox News host Laura Ingraham.
“I am extremely disappointed. It’s no coincidence in my opinion that they put a gag order on [Stuart Jr.] and they put him in prison the day before they had to appear in front of senators …”
